Spent 5 calm, relaxing and incredibly beautiful days on the backwaters of Kerala. Lived, ate, bathed on the boat. We would stop at various little markets on the banks to do our shopping. Lobsters to shrimps to steamed banana, we were bloated. I slept on top of the boat with the moon right above my face. We would wake up at 4am or so to see the mist on the water and watch the fishermen at work. I came across a 1200 year old Buddha shrine on one of the banks called "karimadi kuttan" which is cut in half. So you have only a half buddha. Its preserved by the archaeological dept of india now. Its superb. We watched the life of people on the banks and they watched ours on the boat.
